The International Somali Awards is Almost Here: Join Us!

The International Somali Awards (ISA) 2017 is coming to London in March, and we’d love you to join us!

The annual awards honours the greatest achievements of the worldwide Somali community and promises to be one of the most important ceremonies of its kind. ATM is proud to sponsor this year’s awards, which will take place on the 15th March 2017 in London.

An innovative, unique and prestigious ceremony, the ISA pays tribute to inspiring Somali success stories from all walks of life and recognises inspirational role models from the fields of business, social work, sports, education and entertainment.

There have been some incredible achievements by Somalis all around the world in the past year, including the Minnesota-based Somali-American politician Ilhan Omar who made history in November by becoming the United States’ first ever elected Somali-American woman lawmaker; Mo Farah, the British-Somali Olympic gold medalist runner who was knighted in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours; Ahmed Hussein, the Somalia-born refugee who arrived in Canada aged just 16, who has just been appointed Canada’s new Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship; and many more!

This year’s categories, which organisers say ‘are a testament to those visionaries who are instrumental to the success within each sector’, are Sports Person of the Year, Business of the Year, Outstanding Educational Achievement, Best Entertainment Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Contribution to the Community and Innovative Award. You can read about all of the deserving nominees here.

The awards invites you to vote for who you think should win. Organisers point out that the shortlisted nominees have no association with any negative tribalistic activity and have a respectable and honourable reputation within our community. Therefore, they encourage you to vote for the individuals and entities that you think are worthy of winning the award.

The awards are less than two months away and we couldn’t be more excited – join us on a journey to celebrate the incredible and inspiring achievements of Somalis everywhere!
