DontJudgeDontLabel – Press Release
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white – except by piety and good action.” Prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace).
The Anti-Tribalism Movement (ATM) will launch a campaign titled Don’t Judge Don’t Label on Monday 13th of June 2016 to counter prejudice, tribalism, extremism, hatred, stereotypes, myths, and preconceived judgment.
The campaign also aims to promote tolerance; understanding, respect, valuing differences and celebrating shared values.
#DontJudgeDontLabel is open to anybody who wants to unite with us to pledge that labelling and judging people is wrong, unfair and hurtful. It’s time to counter centuries old myths and portrayal of our people.
Somalis are sick and tired of the hate-filled labelling and judgment. The Somali state and its people have been devastated by tribalism, and it is sad that we continue to see tribalistic actions taking place both online and offline. Together we can stop hateful poisonous labelling and judgement from flourishing.
