Open-Minded Debate – Gender politics in Somalia

In partnership with  SOAS Somali Society, we are pleased to invite you its 28th monthly Open-Minded Debate.

The topic of the evening will focus on “Gender politics; The role and participation of Somali women in a post-conflict state” with an excellent panel of experts at hand. The discussion is aimed to highlight the importance of Women’s participation in the peace-building process. We feel is crucial to discuss the role Somali women have played in the last decade politically, socially and economically, whilst exploring the challenges women in Somalia continue to face. As Somalia is currently experiencing a severe drought crisis, which is affecting thousands of vulnerable families, SOAS Somali society is fundraising for Human appeal campaign in Somalia and they hope to raise £10,000. All proceeds will contribute to their ongoing humanitarian effort to assist those most affected by the ongoing food insecurity.

Tickets are £3 and will be sold at the door, but this event requires registration through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gender-politics-in-somalia-the-role-and-participation-of-somali-women-in-a-post-conflict-state-tickets-31348417962
